- Read your classmates’ questions about the course and syllabus and my responses in the Syllabus and course site questions forum. Add any additional questions you might have.
- Add your first reading response as a reply to the “Week 2” topic to the discussion forum. This post should cover the introduction and ch. 1 of Net Smart. (New due date: 11:59 p.m., Wed. 1/21.)
- If you do not already have one, create a Google Drive account and
- create a folder (I will often refer to these folders as your course folders) for your 303 course work,
- title the folder using the format ENGL303-SP15-Lastname (for example, a student named Zaphod Beeblebrox would have folder titled ENGL303-SP15-Beeblebrox), and
- share that folder (not individual documents, the entire folder) with jmj5805 [at] gmail [dot] com. Information about sharing on Google Drive can be found here. The folder’s “visibility settings” should be set to “private,” and, when you share it with me, my “access level” should be “editor.”
- Create two folders within this folder. Name one “Quizzes” and the other “Grades.”
- Once you have successfully created the folder and shared it with me, you can turn in quizzes by

- Create an account at WordPress.com (privacy policy) for your personal website (you do not need to install your own version of WordPress) then
- If you do not already have one, create a Google Plus account and add me to one of your circles.
- Respond to one of your classmates’ posts on the Week 2 topic in the Discussion Forum (New due date; 5 p.m., Fri. 1/23)
Before 5 p.m. on Friday, 1/23
- Update, 1/20: Answer the questions for this week’s quiz and upload the completed quiz to your “Quiz” folder on Google Drive. (You may also answer the questions via the document editor on Google Drive after you have uploaded the file; whichever method you choose, this week your answers are due by Friday at 5 p.m..)
- If you did not do so during Week 1, stop by my online office hours on Google’s Hangouts to introduce yourself, ask me any questions you have about the course, and verify that Hangouts works for you. The best time to do this will be during my office hours on Tuesday from 10-11:30. If you are unavailable then, contact me via email to schedule an alternative time for us to meet. Do not wait until Friday to do this, or you may not be able to schedule a slot before the deadline.
