We will hold hangout #2 this week. This chat will be your opportunity to ask any questions you might have about the multimodal analysis assignment. In addition to the reading response and assignment, you should have chosen the texts for your analysis and begin drafting it to prepare for the peer review in Week 6.
Before 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, 2/10
- Add your response to the discussion prompt on the “Week 5″ topic on the Weekly Discussion forum.
Before 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, 2/12
- Respond to one of your classmates’ posts on the forum.
- Choose a multimodal genre on the web and in a reply to the Week 5 topic in the “Multimodal analysis” forum analyze the conventions of that genre, with examples, using the model provided on p. 51 of Writer/Designer. What does “using the model” mean? It means:
- You do not have to complete the assignment on p. 45 or make all of the lists the authors call for.
- Instead, you will look for similarities across the texts in this genre and then group them as a collection of genre conventions (see 3. on p. 51 for more explanation).
- You can post your analysis as a list, but include a paragraph that explains how you derived that list from the examples you used.
- Post links to your examples.
