We have discussed in class already that future employers can log into our facebook and twitter accounts to see what are activity online says about us. This alone gets me worried about invasion of privacy, but if someone could actually see my whole internet history that would really freak me out. I understand in today’s world, with this amount of technology at everyone’s disposable, people in government can easily see into our everyday lives. However, I feel that this technology needs restrictions on how we can use it to spy on other people. It is one thing to look at the internet activity at a suspected criminal, but to look at the activity of someone who watches movies online instead of buying them, seems a little much for me. This technology should only be used in cases where it can prevent a crime, not just to check in on people. Additonally, as I mentioned in class, I think what we do online does not really say a lot about us as people. I may post pictures of me out partying with my friends, but that does not mean I will miss work, or be more likely to do illigeal things than somebody who stays at home on the weekend. I act differently at work than I do in my social life. I may be a little bit of a risk taker in my social life but that does not mean I will do the same at my job. Seriously, I think our government needs to start coming up with ways to protect our privacy online instead of coming up with ways on how to infringe on our privacy.

Text Before and After http://courses.johnmjones.org/multimedia/2012/01/text-before-and-after/ http://courses.johnmjones.org/multimedia/2012/01/text-before-and-after/#comments Sun, 22 Jan 2012 00:02:23 +0000 sdavis47 http://courses.johnmjones.org/multimedia/?p=559 Continue reading ]]> I have to admit when I first read the readings for this week I was a little confused about the author was really trying to say. I actually looked at other people’s posts to make sure I was grasping the general idea of what the author was trying to communicate to us.

What I got out of this text was that text has changed a lot. My parents often said, or rather my Mom, has said that since she grew up in a time that text game from books, or handwritten documents it is harder to adapt to the text of today. Now there is stuff such as hyperlinks, or tweets, or texts, as in text messages, instead of hand written notes or novels. Maybe one day there can be texts that float right in front of us, like they did in Harry Potter, I mean who knows what technology can come up with in the future? I bet back when the computer came out people were amazed at what we are able to create. Then came the internet, which allows all of us to share any type of text we create with the world. Then phones came out with text messaging, or what people now refer to simply as “Texts” Personally I think that all this technology can overwhelme someone. I see my mothers point. Back when she was a child all they had were typewriters. Now there are computers, laptops, iphones, i touchs, droids, and a million other devices that allow us to create any text we want. Personally I am surprised they havent started creating 3D texts for cell phones. I hope they do not do that because 3D has to be the worst kind of text every created. It gives me a headache to look at that type of text for too long.
