In the Documentary film, *RIP: A Remix Manifesto* copyright laws are enforced yet it educates its viewers on these laws. Copyright laws today, according to the documentary, are completely out of control. I find it so intriguing that with the intentions of this documentary as teaching about these laws, it is considered illegal. The main goal was to make a mash up film of mash up type music by DJs, for example “girl talk” the genre also known as “Remix”. According to these laws that is illegal due to individuals do not have permission to take songs from artists such as Pink Floyd.
The most interesting aspect of the goal of this documentary is that it is an “open source cinema” meaning the film can or could be mixed and remixed. The purpose being for others to add onto it.
At one point in the film, creativity was brought up when the example of students from a University made an animated version of this documentary. This demonstrating the fact that copyright laws prohibit our creative juices from flowing.
However, these copyright laws have quite the negative impact on social media sites and the world wide web in itself as well. Serious consequences on many social media sites, mainly Youtube, as an example. The way Youtube is used, several consequences would be out lurking for Youtube and its users for posting without copyright.
