Pretty philosophical for so early on a Sunday.

While reading this work by Jorge Luis Borges, I found myself wondering what it would be like to actually see such a library. The way it is described reminds me of something straight from the mythical world. It almost gives me chills just to think of a library where you can find all the answers to all the questions in the world; seems to me to be kind of a comparison to the Internet.
The Internet is a place where one can simply go to find any answer to any question he or she may have. The Internet is non-discriminatory and most anyone can access it. Unlike the library of Babel where people had to leave their homes to find answers, the Internet is right inside the home. (If you’re fortunate enough to have the means to pay for it, that is.) The Internet is also super quick. It doesn’t take hours upon hours poring through books to find what you’re looking for. The Internet is the modern day library of Babel; it is the answer.
Through the books of the library of Babel, it seemed that the world’s most difficult questions had answers. “The universe was justified” through the books and hope was alive. This is how I see the Internet, when used properly. The Internet can give us hope in a time when there seems to be little. (With the recession, gas prices, war, genocide, natural disasters, etc.) We can use the internet to answer the questions we have about life and all that it encompasses if we so choose to. The answers are out there, you just have to ask the right questions.
