Blown to Bits

America is the land of the free, with multiple forms of media, and news stations, there is nearly no holding back to what you can say.  In countries such as Thailand, if you say a bad word about the president, you can go to jail or get beaten.  Fox news, has a reputation of being more right winged due to the things that they say.  HBO star Bill Maher speaks his mind without holding back being ultra liberal on his talk show.  I see the internet no difference then other forms of media.  The internet is a place to go for everything that you don’t see on television. After reading chapter seven, I found it interesting that the CDA wants to allow ISPs [Internet Service Providers] “to act as editors without running the risk that they would be held responsible for the edited content.” (Blown to Bits. Chapter 7)  The government is trying to step in and create regulation broadcast media to satellite and cable television as well.  I do believe some internet needs to be regulated.  With downloading movies, music, and stolen credit cards illegally, there needs to be some sort of government regulation.  When it comes to history checking, and stalking previous cookies, I do believe they can be taking more advantage then we think.  Freedom of speech is something we treasure as americans , we like to speak our mind on blogs and youtube, with out people knowing our names.  The internet is a place to escape and lose identity. There can be so much good to come out government regulation, and can stop online stalking and crazy  pedophiles, I just believe the government already controls so much, when will it stop?
