Talking about remixing in class recently has been really interesting to me. Listening to Girl Talk and artists like him was really interesting, and at the same time you do have to wonder about the legality of it. Can something that sounds so good and artistic really be illegal? The fines for copyright infringement also seem outrageous. I think being charged several thousand dollars for a small infringement is really unfair.  You could do more time and pay more fines for downloading music ‘illegally’ than you could for possession of certain drugs (depending on the amount).

It was also quite interesting to find out how ‘fair use’ statutes keeps getting made longer as Mickey Mouse’s time to fall into fair use gets closer. Will these statutes keep getting pushed back, or will someone finally step in and stop it? It could be very possible that Mickey Mouse will never fall into fair use.
