The title to this post reflects how I feel about the chapters by Rushkoff. I believe he is wrong about what he writes. But to really get what I am saying I will talk about Chapters 3 and 4 indvidually
In Chapter 3 Rushkoff talked about the choices we have to make because of the digital age. For example, when you sign up for a Facebook, or a myspace you have to choose what gender you profile will be under, and how old you are. He says these decisions are forced upon us but I disagree. These decisions are not forced on us because there is no physical force that is making you choose what your gender is, or how old you are. Yes, sometimes it feels like you have to chose, but most of the time you just type the information in. However, when it comes to more personal information, like your address and such most people tend to skip over filling that information in because it is too private. I know better than to let that information to be made public so there is no force that can make me change that belief.
In chapter 4 Rushkoff talked about how the internet makes everything less complex. Again, I have to disagree with him because I believe the opposite: I believe the internet makes everything more complex. As a whole I believe that the internet is a very complex thing. There are many different sites for many different types of topics. Within those sites there are pages of information on another topic. Also Rushkoff believed that because he believed the internet made everything less complex, people often interpret what they read wrong. That is true, but for a different reason. I believe that because the internet is so complex, and there is so much information out there, people sometimes start scanning over the information they have in front of them because they are overwhelmed by how much information there is.
