I had really never given much thought to the many revolutions in reading until this very moment. While I was reading “10 Reading Revolutions before E-books” (http://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2010/08/10-reading-revolutions-before-e-books/62004/) something really grabbed my attention. The fact that reading has come so far since the beginning of time is something that is certainly worth mentioning. It’s hard to think that centuries ago people didn’t even consider reading to be important. Today, however, reading is important and has certainly affected the way our society runs as a whole. Thinking about where reading started and where it is now is leaves me pretty mind boggled. In fact, thinking about where the act of reading is headed leaves me feeling about the same. E-books have certainly had an effect on the future of reading just as the making of the alphabet did. Having an e-book not only allows you to have convenience, but it opens doors. One can carry their whole library in its entirety with them on a plane, in a car, or even just to class. One can also find something they’ve been dying to read on an E-book, where as they may never encounter a hard copy of the book. E-books are changing the way we read and making reading more available. I think that being a part of the E-book revolution is something we can all value. I also think that we’ve got a lot to look forward to in the revolution of reading.
