All the while that digital text is convenient and easily accessible, I still do not agree with changing textbooks in to itextbooks, like Apple has the idea of. Personally, I do not like the idea of ebooks or anything with the kindle, it does not have the same affect as say a hard copy bound book, that physically sits in your hands. I like to see where I am in the book, able to take actual notes and highlight certain passages. While, yes, I get that some are advanced to that fact of being able to take notes and highlight, it just is not the same.
The one idea of having an itextbook that I agree with and think would benefit those students learning the information would be the fact of being able to add video within the text. This providing more examples, with voiceovers, being able to zoom in and out to see details and focus on a section of a photograph at a time.
Call me old school with learning, but I feel as if schools K-12 and even Colleges and Universities need to stick with actual textbooks. Today’s Universities allow the option of either textbooks or ebooks, which I think should all be a preference, but having the actually book in front of you is more assuring than a piece of technology that may or may not load right away, when you can just simply open up to a page.
