Tweet Tweet

I admit when Twitter first came out, I was not a fan. I did not think the idea of “following” famous people was that entertaining so I never thought of getting one. Then, as each year passed, I kept hearing news of how twitter could be used for more than just seeing what Ashton Kutcher was eating that day. The two articles that focused on Twitter’s impact on the world gave me true, and insightful news on how Twitter could be used in a helpful way. Before reading these articles I caved in about 6 months ago, finally getting my own twitter account. Me and my friends used to make fun of “twatter” saying how dumb it was to follow famous people, so I kept my account in the dark. As I entered the world of twitter I realized how much faster I could get updates on news, and updates on my favorite sports teams. A+ for twitter.

Twitter has grown on me so much that it is one of my daily routines to get my news. While reading the Times article not only did I immaturely giggle at Twitter’s co-founders name, Evan Williams, but I also realized how twitter is more than just a glorified Facebook status. It connects people around the world in the matter of seconds. It is direct and to the point, which is how I fell in love with twitter. I don’t have to see 72 pictures of you and your friends pre-gaming before your night out on my twitter news feed. It has changed the way people live their daily lives.

Twitter has made me a believer in that social networking cannot be stopped. It is not necessarily a bad thing either. It connects people from all backgrounds and gives you a glimpse into who they are, and what types of entertainment and media they like. You get to learn more about different cultures and interests while projecting your own interests to others. Twitter has won me over.
